Job losses – “Gee…thanks John Key”

Okay – so as we head into another round of General elections for New Zealand, New Zealanders are already losing their jobs. Many of them have struggled these past few years to try and make ends meet. However with the global economy still inching its way to some sort of stability and the millions now being allocated to bring Christchurch back to some normality in time for the Rugby World Cup – low income earning New Zealanders were given another blow when the 90 Day trial period came into law on the 1st April 2011.

The 90 Day employment trial period essentially gives employers the right to terminate the employment of a new employee without giving reason – at the end of the first 3 months.

So, lets look at say the 100 Foodstuffs NZ workers who will be losing their jobs – (being made redundant) – from the company’s Wellington operation. These same 100 will be out their applying for new jobs. Say, they are successful… EVEN with the skills they have acquired over the years – their new employers can still terminate their employment without having to give reason after the mandatory ‘preliminary’ 90 day trial period. They could work their BUTTS off – and be the best employee. BUT if the employer wants them gone for whatever reason…”GOODBYE”

SO, thank you John Key! Thank you for being stupid – You’re the best!!
